In Iwate Prefecture, the “Great East Japan Earthquake Tsunami Tradition Museum” (nickname: “Iwate TSUNAMI Memorial”) has been installed in the “Takada Matsubara Tsunami Reconstruction Memorial Park”, which is being developed in Rikuzentakata City, on September 22, 2019. Opened. The purpose of this facility is to transmit the facts and lessons learned from the tsunami to the next generation and to communicate the revival to people in and outside Japan, so that the tragedy of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami will not be repeated.
The theme of the exhibition is "To protect life and live with the sea and the earth." Display the history of the tsunami damage in Sanriku, the tsunami of the Great East Japan Earthquake, videos, photos, and disaster-affected objects related to reconstruction efforts, and pass on the facts and lessons learned from the disaster to future generations so that the tragedy of the Great East Japan Earthquake tsunami will not be repeated. It is a way to communicate the image of reconstruction to people in and outside Japan, and to express appreciation to all those who have provided support.
